Perfume-L'Artisan-Havana Vanille

Havana Vanille by L'Artisan Perfumeur starts with some kind of cleanness and sweetness (in a peculiar way, it makes me think about tuberose, of course they smell different, but similar in the way they project clean, sharp and sweet aura) and mixed with spicy cinnamon and vanilla combo. It’s oddly comforting at this stage, somewhat reminiscent the scent of egg nog a bit.

Soon it smells like a comfy local cafe in the winter to me. It smells of nice sweet food-y spiciness, a little bit sensual, totally intoxicating in an innocent, comforting way; I suddenly got the image of Chai Tea Latte, a slice of raisin toast and me, sitting at the table and enjoying a book. However, it’s not as lively or hippy as some cafĂ© might make me feel, there is this weird, nearly hauntingly charm in Havana Vanille, somehow it feels grand, it smells like an old James Bond movie, maybe all due to the scent’s so similar to a good vanilla cigar (I do not smoke and doesn’t really like the scent of smoke, but the vanilla cigar scent here is so good, actually it feels more like accidently smelling a trace of vanilla cigar residue on someone’s hand).

The dry down is something rather cosy and comfy yet can make you feel highly addicted. It is sensual, sweet with a swirl of creamy resin-y vanilla, and truly intoxicating with a profound woody and slightly musky undertone. The musk should be of really fine quality, as it reminds me a lot of Musc by Bruno Acampora.

The silage is surprisingly small in comparison with some other commercial perfumes like Dior’s Poison flankers, but it’s great in closer range. Havana Vanille is the kind of happy, comforting, non-melancholy scent with which I’d love to sleep with, in a rainy night. However, this is not a soft teddy-bear scent, it can be easily worn in a warmer summer day or night, and brings out some totally different, yet good, smoking hot (literally, if you are thinking about vanilla cigar), exotic vibe to the wearer.
If a typical vanilla scent is like a sweet angel, then Havana Vanille is an angel with hidden horns.
I’d say this is one of the best vanilla fragrance I’ve tried so far which can work equally well for bother genders.
To any vanilla lovers searching for something darker, this is a must-try!
